An interactive meeting between journalists and Nitin Naveen, National Executive President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, was held in New Delhi on Tuesday, focusing on the evolving relationship between the media and political leadership and the role of journalism in a democratic society.

The discussion centred on the importance of independent, responsible and fact-driven journalism, with journalists highlighting the need for transparency, ethical reporting and the free flow of information in matters of public interest. Contemporary national issues and the social responsibility of the media were also part of the wide-ranging exchange.

Following the interaction, senior journalist Rakesh Singh felicitated Nitin Naveen with the traditional Mithila Paag, a ceremonial headgear that symbolises the rich cultural heritage, dignity and hospitality of the Mithila region. The gesture was seen as a mark of respect and cultural pride.

The meeting was also attended by Sanjay Mayukh, Member of the Bihar Legislative Council and National Media Co-Incharge of the Bharatiya Janata Party, who interacted with members of the press during the session.

Speaking on the occasion, Rakesh Singh said that regular and open dialogue between journalists and public representatives is vital for strengthening democratic values. He noted that honouring guests with the Mithila Paag reflects the region’s cultural traditions and its ethos of respect.

Organisers said the interaction aimed to deepen engagement between the media and political leadership and to promote constructive discussions on issues affecting the public, reinforcing the role of dialogue in a healthy democracy.
