Delhi Cabinet Minister Ravinder Indraj Promises to Resolve DPSA Concerns, Applauds Their Efforts

Delhi government committed to equal opportunities, sustained support and grievance redressal for Divyang athletes: Ravinder Indraj

New Delhi, February 6, 2026:

The second day of the 3rd Delhi State Para-Athletics Championships 2025–26 witnessed high-intensity competition across track and field events at the Warm-Up Area of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi, as para-athletes from multiple age groups continued to demonstrate discipline, skill and competitive excellence.

Organised by the Divyang Para Sports Association of Delhi (DPSA , Delhi), the three-day championship has brought together para-athletes competing in Under-12, Under-17 (Sub-Junior), Under-19 (Junior) and Above-19 (Senior) categories, reflecting the expanding scale of participation and growing institutional support for para-sports in the national capital.

Cabinet Minister of the Government of NCT of Delhi, Shri Ravinder Indraj Singh (Social Welfare; Welfare of SC & ST; Cooperation), attended the second day as Chief Guest and interacted extensively with athletes, coaches and officials. During his interaction with DPSA office-bearers, the Minister listened to issues raised by the association and assured them of appropriate consideration and support from the Delhi government.

Addressing the athletes and officials, the Minister reiterated the government’s inclusive approach towards sports development and welfare of Divyang citizens.
“For the Delhi government, Divyang does not mean limitation, it means special. Our responsibility is to ensure that every Divyang athlete receives equal opportunities, facilities and platforms to move forward. Through sports, our children can make their name not only in Delhi, but across the country and the world. The Delhi government remains fully committed to promoting para-sports and supporting such initiatives at every level,” he said.

Officials from DPSA Delhi, including Parul Singh, President of the Delhi Paralympic Committee; Gaurav Choudhary, Vice-President; General Secretary Rahul Kasana, and Lalit Kumar, Treasurer, stated that the championships aim to strengthen the competitive pipeline for para-athletes while also creating sustained engagement between sporting bodies and government institutions.

They noted that continued dialogue and institutional backing are essential to improving infrastructure, access and competitive exposure for para-athletes at the grassroots level.
