CM Yogi highlighted the significance of PM Modi’s 51st visit to his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, stating it as a rare feat for any Prime Minister. He emphasized that Kashi, embodying the eternal soul of Sanatan Dharma and global camaraderie, has emerged as a global attraction over the past 11 years, blending spirituality with modernity. Under PM Modi’s leadership, Kashi has become a unique confluence of tradition and progress, earning recognition as a global cultural and spiritual hub.
₹51,000 Crore Projects Transforming Varanasi
The Chief Minister elaborated that over the past 11 years, development projects worth ₹51,000 crore have been sanctioned for Varanasi. Of these, projects worth ₹34,000 crore have already been inaugurated by PM Modi, setting a new paradigm for holistic development and reinforcing Kashi’s global identity. Additionally, projects worth over ₹16,000 crore are in various stages of progress. During this visit, PM Modi gifted Kashi projects worth ₹2,200 crore, encompassing initiatives in connectivity, water supply, education, healthcare, sports, and cultural rejuvenation. These projects are poised to enhance infrastructure while preserving the city’s rich cultural heritage.
Empowering Divyangjans: New Opportunities for All
CM Yogi praised PM Modi for introducing the term ‘Divyang,’ which has instilled hope and enthusiasm among differently-abled individuals. During the event, thousands of Divyangjans received assistive devices, enabling them to pursue opportunities in education, employment, and social integration. The CM emphasized that Divyangjans are integral to the vision of a capable and inclusive India, and the government is committed to their empowerment.
Farmers’ Empowerment: The Backbone of Atmanirbhar Bharat
Reflecting on the plight of farmers 11 years ago, CM Yogi noted that farmers were once compelled to abandon agriculture or, in extreme cases, resort to suicide due to systemic failures. However, transformative schemes like the Soil Health Card, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, and market linkage programs have revolutionized the agricultural landscape. During the event, PM Modi facilitated the distribution of the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi to nearly 10 crore farmers across India, including 2.3 crore farmers from Uttar Pradesh and 2.21 lakh from Varanasi. These initiatives are empowering farmers to contribute to the vision of a self-reliant and developed India.
Kashi: A Confluence of Development and Culture
CM Yogi underscored that under PM Modi’s leadership, Kashi is emerging as a unique blend of development and cultural heritage. The city is not only reinforcing its status as India’s cultural capital but also establishing itself as a global hub with modern infrastructure. He highlighted that the collective efforts of farmers, Divyangjans, and other sections of society are driving the vision of an Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) and Viksit (developed) Bharat.
Dignitaries Present at the Event
The event was attended by prominent leaders, including Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, BJP State President Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh, and state ministers Surya Pratap Shahi, Suresh Khanna, Anil Rajbhar, Ravindra Jaiswal, and Dayashankar Mishra ‘Dayalu.’ Their presence underscored the government’s commitment to Kashi’s development and India’s progress.
