Dr. Suraj Mandal Writes to Lok Sabha Speaker Over Alleged Misconduct at Constitution Club

Incident raises questions over conduct and accountability within India’s premier parliamentary institution

New Delhi: A serious allegation has surfaced from within the Constitution Club of India, where former MP Dr. Suraj Mandal has claimed that his wife was subjected to disrespectful treatment by Club personnel.

According to a written complaint submitted by Dr. Mandal to the Club authorities and senior government officials, the incident occurred on October 13, 2025, when he and his wife were using Lounge No. 3 at the Constitution Club. During a brief visit by Dr. Mandal to Jharkhand Bhawan, a security guard named Jitender Singh, allegedly at the instigation of another staff member, Sanjay Yadav, is said to have misbehaved with Dr. Mandal’s wife and guests and forcibly asked them to vacate the lounge.

In his letter, Dr. Mandal has also mentioned that the same individuals have previously displayed hostility towards him, reportedly due to his support for another member during recent internal elections held at the Club. He has urged the authorities to take immediate disciplinary action against those responsible and to ensure that such acts of misconduct are not repeated in an institution that symbolizes democratic dignity and parliamentary fraternity.

“The Constitution Club of India is a space meant to foster respect and decorum among Members of Parliament and public representatives. It is deeply unfortunate that such behavior has been allowed within its walls,” Dr. Mandal stated in his complaint, requesting the intervention of the Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah, and the Director of the Constitution Club of India to safeguard the dignity and rights of members and their families.

The matter has now been brought to the attention of the concerned authorities, and a formal inquiry has been requested to uphold the sanctity of the Club’s code of conduct and ensure justice for the affected family.
