New Delhi | February 21, 2026
Addressing a press conference at Andhra Bhavan in New Delhi, K. A. Paul thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking a decisive step regarding the participation of Bill Gates at the ongoing AI Impact Summit.
Dr. Paul said he raised the issue publicly during a recent press meet in Delhi and directly appealed to the Prime Minister and government authorities not to host Mr. Gates, citing what he described as international scrutiny surrounding him. He stated that leaders must act with clarity and responsibility when global concerns come under discussion.
Calling the decision courageous and timely, Dr. Paul said Prime Minister Modi demonstrated strong leadership at a critical moment when India is positioning itself as a global hub for artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
He emphasized that India should lead the world in building a human-centric, transparent, and accountable AI framework. Referring to the AI Impact Summit, he urged institutions, policymakers, and citizens to strengthen India’s global credibility and avoid distractions that undermine the country’s leadership role.
Dr. Paul also announced a major international peace gathering at YMCA Nandanam Grounds in Chennai, scheduled from 5 PM to 10 PM in the coming weeks. He invited Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin to attend and address the global audience on themes of peace and cooperation beyond politics.
Concluding the press conference, Dr. Paul reiterated his support for Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and urged media organizations to cover the upcoming Chennai event.
