‘My Life is in Danger from Assam CM’: Businessman Nabin Chandra Borah’s Explosive Allegation

Hotel Tokyo Tower owner links harassment to Modi statue project; appeals to PM Modi for urgent protection

Guwahati/ Delhi, August 21, 2025

Businessman and proprietor of Hotel Tokyo Tower, Guwahati, Shri Nabin Chandra Borah has alleged serious threats to his life, reportedly emanating from the Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma. Addressing the media, Borah claimed that the threats are linked to his initiative of constructing a statue of Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at Jalukbari Police Point, Guwahati.

According to Mr. Borah, his project faced obstruction since its inception. He alleges that after a digital banner was placed at the site, attempts were made by groups to capture the land, followed by police intimidation and repeated interference during events such as the Bhumi Pujan (29–31 January 2024). He further claimed that banners welcoming the Prime Minister were forcefully removed by police, and that he himself was detained during the PM’s convoy visit in February 2024.

Borah also highlighted ongoing harassment at his business, stating that “known and unknown persons” routinely visit Hotel Tokyo Tower warning him to remove banners for his safety, as “the Chief Minister is a dangerous person and currently in power.” He alleged that despite repeated requests, he has been denied an audience with the CM for over two years.

The businessman also raised concerns over attempts to financially destabilize him through directives to sell his mortgaged properties—including land in Bokakhat, Jalukbari, Betkuchi, and Hotel Tokyo Tower itself—despite having repaid the majority of a ₹700 lakh bank loan. He claims this is part of a larger conspiracy to dispossess him of assets worth hundreds of crores.

“After enduring constant mental pressure, financial harassment, and threats to my safety, I appeal to the Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji to investigate the conspiracy of the Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, and ensure justice,” Borah stated.

Mr. Borah has urged immediate intervention at the highest level to safeguard his life and property, expressing fear of dire consequences if action is not taken promptly.
