SRCC at 100 Marks Milestone with Grand Annual Alumni Reunion

Mashal procession, reflections and reunions mark SRCC’s milestone alumni gathering

New Delhi: Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), University of Delhi, on Sunday hosted its Annual Alumni Reunion under the banner of its Centenary Year celebrations, creating a vibrant atmosphere of remembrance and reconnecting across generations.

The evening unfolded with a grand traditional procession of ‘Mashal’ , setting the tone for a celebration rooted in legacy yet alive with contemporary relevance. Alumni spanning decades returned to campus to reconnect with classmates, faculty and the institution that shaped their professional and personal journeys.

The reunion saw participation from eminent alumni and invited dignitaries representing the judiciary, government, civil services, corporate leadership, media and the creative industries.

Among those present were Justice (Retd.) Arjun Sikri, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India Judge, Rajat Sharma, Chairman and Editor in Chief India TV; Former MP and Minister Vijay Goel, Senior IAS and IPS officers; leading lawyers; corporate leaders; and prominent figures from media and the Indian film industry.

Welcoming the gathering, Prof. Simrit Kaur, Principal, SRCC, described the reunion as a celebration of relationships built over a hundred years. “SRCC’s centenary year is as much about people as it is about history. Seeing alumni return to campus with the same sense of belonging reminds us that education leaves an imprint far beyond classrooms. Our alumni carry the SRCC ethos wherever they go,” she said.

Mr. Ajay S. Shriram, Chairman, SRCC Governing Body, said the reunion reflected the institution’s ability to stay relevant across generations. “SRCC has always been about building sharp minds anchored in strong values. The centenary reunion is a reminder that the college’s true strength lies in its alumni, who continue to shape industries, institutions and public life,” he said.

Highlighting the role of the alumni body, Dr. Girish Ahuja, President, SRCC Alumni Association, said the gathering captured the continuity of the SRCC legacy. “This reunion is where decades blend seamlessly. It is not just about nostalgia, but about reaffirming a shared identity that connects past batches with the present and future of SRCC,” he said.

Ravi Gupta, Dy. President, SRCC Alumni Association, said the centenary reunion reflected the enduring bond between SRCC and its alumni.“This gathering is a testament to the lifelong connection alumni share with the college. As SRCC marks 100 years, the reunion reinforces our collective responsibility to stay engaged, give back, and contribute to the institution’s continued excellence across generations.”

Sushil Aggarwal, Secretary, SRCC Alumni Association, noted that alumni engagement today goes beyond annual reunions. “Our aim is to build sustained alumni participation through mentorship, collaboration and support for students. The energy we see at this centenary reunion reflects how deeply alumni remain invested in the college,” he said.

Reflecting on SRCC’s formative influence, Justice (Retd.) Arjun Sikri said the institution played a defining role in shaping professional outlook and values. “SRCC teaches you how to think, question and act with integrity. Those lessons stay with you long after you leave campus, and they quietly shape your decisions throughout life,” he said.

Sunil Goyal said the centenary reunion reaffirmed the lasting connect between SRCC and its alumni. “Celebrating 100 years of SRCC brings alumni together to relive shared memories while strengthening our commitment to support the college’s future,” he said.

Mr. Rajat Sharma, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, India TV, said SRCC alumni stand out for their clarity of thought and confidence. “SRCC gives you a voice and the conviction to use it responsibly. That is visible in the way its alumni engage with society and public discourse,” he said.

C.R. Rai, Entrepreneur, said SRCC played a crucial role in shaping entrepreneurial thinking and leadership.

Dr Aruna Jha, Dr Misha Goyal, Dr Rachna Jawa and Dr Sapna Bansal, faculty members of Shri Ram College of Commerce were present on this occassion.

The evening concluded with informal interactions and a dinner hosted for alumni, dignitaries and members of the media, offering space for conversations that bridged generations and professions.

As SRCC continues its centenary celebrations through the year, the Annual Alumni Reunion stood out as a reminder that while buildings and curricula evolve, the bond between an institution and its alumni remains timeless.
