Kerala Health Minister Smt. Veena George Inaugurates National Ayush Mission Workshop on IT Solutions in Kumarakom

Smt. Veena George, Kerala’s Minister for Health and Women & Child Development, inaugurated a two-day National Workshop on “IT Solutions in the Ayush Sector” at KTDC Waterscapes, Kumarakom, organized by the National Ayush Mission, Kerala. The event, attended by representatives from 91 States and Union Territories and 155 participants, including senior officials and policymakers, aims to advance digital integration in the Ayush sector, aligning with the priorities of the Ayush Departmental Summit 2025 held in New Delhi.

In her inaugural address, Minister Veena George emphasized blending tradition with innovation to create a unified digital framework for accessible, affordable, and citizen-centric Ayush healthcare. Highlighting Kerala’s leadership in digital health, she called for interoperable systems to enable real-time monitoring, efficient data and human resource management, and transparent financial tracking. She expressed hope that the workshop would yield innovative digital platforms to strengthen the National Health Mission.

Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, delivered the keynote, stressing the urgent need for digital tools to enhance Ayush service accessibility and quality. He highlighted initiatives like the Ayush Grid and new digital portals, designed to foster collaboration, standardize software, and align with the National Digital Health Mission for equitable healthcare delivery.

Shri Rajan N. Khobragade, Additional Chief Secretary (Health & Ayush), Kerala, praised the state’s digital health achievements and urged states to collaborate on user-friendly, standardized Ayush platforms. Dr. Raghu, Advisor, Ministry of Ayush, emphasized IT-driven solutions for transparency and research, while Ranjan Kumar, Principal Secretary, Ayush, Uttar Pradesh, highlighted the workshop’s role in fostering innovation and inclusivity.

Dr. D Sajith Babu, State Mission Director, National Ayush Mission, Kerala, underscored the event’s significance in modernizing Ayush services through IT interventions, with live demonstrations of hospital management software. Dr. Subodh Kumar, Director, Ministry of Ayush, commended Kerala’s leadership in driving inter-state digital synergy.

The workshop facilitates the exchange of best practices, orientation on platforms like Ayush Grid, and discussions on program management, patient care, and data systems. A two-day field visit from September 20–21 will showcase Kerala’s Ayush facilities, including NABH-certified centers and specialized initiatives in Kottayam, Alappuzha, and Thrissur.

This event marks a significant step toward building a future-ready, citizen-focused digital Ayush ecosystem in India.
