Uzbekistan and India Strengthen Academic Partnership to Foster Next-Generation Media Professionals

Uzbekistan University of Journalism and Mass Communications and India’s MERI Group of Institutes advance collaboration through student exchanges, joint academic programs, and dual-degree initiatives.

NEW DELHI, October 30, 2025:

The Uzbekistan University of Journalism and Mass Communications (UzJOKU) hosted a delegation from India’s MERI Group of Institutes to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in journalism and media education. The meeting marked another step forward in fostering academic ties between the two countries.

During the discussions, both sides explored new opportunities for joint initiatives, focusing on student and faculty exchanges, dual-degree programs, collaborative research, and specialized media training. The talks also covered the development of modern curricula, online learning modules, and workshops designed to enhance the professional skills of aspiring journalists.

The partnership between UzJOKU and MERI Group was initiated earlier this year through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed during the visit of a UzJOKU delegation to India. The MoU serves as a comprehensive framework for academic cooperation, encompassing knowledge-sharing, research collaboration, and mutual capacity building.

At the recent meeting, both institutions reviewed the implementation of earlier agreements and mapped out specific actions to strengthen engagement—such as organizing joint seminars, launching online journalism courses, and facilitating practical training opportunities for students.

The MERI Group of Institutes, known for its strong media education ecosystem and industry linkages, provides students with cutting-edge facilities in television and radio production. Its emphasis on practical learning and collaboration with India’s leading media organizations has made it a preferred hub for aspiring journalists.

This growing collaboration between Uzbekistan and India is set to contribute significantly to the development of highly skilled, globally competitive media professionals while reinforcing the academic and cultural partnership between the two nations.
