Celebrating “Ayurveda for People and Planet,” the event showcased integrative medicine, digital initiatives, and global outreach, positioning Goa as a hub for Ayurvedic wellness.
New Delhi: The Ministry of Ayush marked the 10th National Ayurveda Day with grandeur at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in Goa, under the theme “Ayurveda for People and Planet.” The event was attended by dignitaries including Goa Governor Shri Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush Shri Prataprao Jadhav, and Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy Shri Shripad Yesso Naik.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, in his message, congratulated the nation, describing Ayurveda as India’s ancient heritage that offers holistic solutions for modern health challenges while promoting planetary wellness.
Ayurveda’s Global Impact
Goa Governor Shri Ashok Gajapathi Raju noted that Ayurveda Day has evolved into a global health movement, celebrated in over 150 countries. Highlighting the theme “Ayurveda for People and Planet,” he praised digital initiatives like the NAMASTE portal and Ayush HMIS, which enhance accessibility and evidence-based practice. Shri Raju positioned Goa as a potential global hub for Ayurveda-based wellness tourism, citing its rich biodiversity and the newly inaugurated Integrative Oncology Unit at AIIA Goa, a collaboration with the Tata Memorial Centre. He emphasized the need for scientific validation, ethical promotion, and utilization of medicinal plants to boost employment and the regional economy.
State Leadership on Ayurveda
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant highlighted Ayurveda’s relevance in preventing lifestyle disorders such as obesity, diabetes, and stress. Stressing principles like Dinacharya (daily routine) and Ritucharya (seasonal regimen), he explained their practical applications for preventive healthcare. Dr. Sawant announced a tripartite MoU between the Government of Goa, Tata Memorial Centre, and AIIA Goa to establish an Integrative Oncology Centre, advancing the integration of traditional and modern medicine.
National Focus and Global Recognition
Union Minister Shri Prataprao Jadhav emphasized the historical significance of September 23 as Ayurveda Day, symbolizing balance in nature, a core Ayurvedic principle. He highlighted initiatives like Desh ka Swasthya Parikshan Abhiyan, which engaged 1.29 crore citizens and set five Guinness World Records, promoting predictive, preventive, and personalized healthcare.
Union Minister Shri Shripad Yesso Naik underscored Ayurveda’s role in tackling non-communicable diseases, mental health challenges, and environmental degradation, noting that preventive care aligns with sustainable healthcare. He praised AIIA Goa’s contributions to integrative medicine and encouraged evidence-based practices alongside public participation in campaigns like Swachhata Hi Sewa and Swasth Nari Sashakt Pariwar Abhiyan.
New Initiatives and Awards
The event launched the “Desh ka Swasthya Parikshan” campaign and the DRAVYA portal, a digital platform improving access to Ayurvedic resources. New facilities at AIIA Goa, including the Integrative Oncology Unit, were inaugurated, alongside MoUs for academic and research collaborations globally and locally. The Ran-Bhaji Utsav, celebrating forest vegetables integral to Ayurvedic diets, was also launched.
The National Dhanwantari Ayurveda Awards 2025 were conferred on Prof. Bamwari Lal Gaur, Vd. Neelakanthan Mooss E.T., and Vd. Bhavana Prasher for outstanding contributions. Several publications were released, including “25 Years Journey of NMPB,” “Ayurveda for Sports Medicine,” and “Ayurveda Insight for Restful Sleep.”
Prime Minister’s Message
In his message, PM Modi emphasized that Ayurveda offers preventive measures, treatments, and a path to balance, compassion, and long-term health. He highlighted the synergy between human welfare and environmental conservation, urging citizens to adopt simple Ayurvedic principles for a healthier, sustainable future.
The 10th National Ayurveda Day in Goa underscored India’s commitment to promoting Ayurveda as a cornerstone of national healthcare and a global model for holistic wellness, driven by innovation, research, and public engagement.
