EPS-95 Pensioners Launch Nationwide Movement for Retirement Rights

Protest at Delhi EPFO HQ draws participants from multiple states, demanding ₹7,500 minimum pension, full DA restoration, higher pension, and adequate healthcare facilities.

New Delhi, October 13, 2025:

Thousands of pensioners under the Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS-95) staged a massive protest outside the EPFO Headquarters in East Kidwai Nagar, New Delhi, on Monday. They urged the government to immediately address their long-pending demands and implement the Supreme Court’s order without further delay.

The protest, organised by the EPS-95 National Agitation Committee (NAC), coincided with the meeting of the Central Board of Trustees (CBT) of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). Pensioners from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Bihar, West Bengal, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and several other states joined the demonstration, making it one of the largest coordinated protests by EPS-95 beneficiaries in recent months.

The pensioners reiterated their four key demands —

  • Fix a minimum pension of ₹7,500 per month
  • Restore full payment of Dearness Allowance (DA)
  • Implement higher pension as directed by the Supreme Court
  • Provide adequate medical facilities for retired employees

Addressing the gathering, Commander Ashok Raut, National President of the EPS-95 National Agitation Committee, accused the government of neglecting the plight of pensioners despite clear judicial directions.

He said, “The Hon’ble Supreme Court has already delivered its verdict, yet justice remains out of reach for millions of retired employees. Those who dedicated their entire lives to the nation are now struggling to make ends meet. We appeal to the Prime Minister to personally intervene and restore dignity and fairness to the pension system”.

Virendra Singh Rajawat, General Secretary of the Committee, also called for immediate government action, stating, “Pensioners have exercised utmost patience. The government must now act with both sensitivity and resolve to bring a lasting solution to this long-pending issue.”

The demonstration concluded with the adoption of a resolution demanding prompt action on the pensioners’ charter. The Committee warned that if their demands continue to be ignored, the agitation will be intensified and expanded to state capitals and regional EPFO offices in the coming months.
