E-Cell of MERI College achieved an extraordinary performance at the National Entrepreneurship Challenge (NEC) 2025, earning a Top 5 national rank at the finals held during the 21st E-Summit at IIT Bombay. The accomplishment marked a dramatic rise from the team’s initial 57th position, highlighting resilience, strategy, and consistent effort among nearly 4,000 competing institutions across India.

The journey of resurgence began after an early exit on 31 January 2025, prompting E-Cell to overhaul its organizational structure, streamline processes, and adopt a disciplined, long-term approach. Months of dedicated work culminated on 12 December 2025 when E-Cell MERI was officially recognized as the 5th-ranked team at the NEC Finals.

Leadership and Strategic Guidance Drive Success

The team’s revival was steered by Zorawar Singh (NEC Leader), Anant Noor Singh (President), and Vishal Dudeja (Vice NEC Leader). Their leadership, combined with coordinated teamwork and meticulous execution, guided E-Cell through the challenging rounds. Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Chhabra, serving as NEC External Mentor and Illuminate Faculty Member, provided invaluable academic and strategic support.

Strong Participation Across Challenges

Throughout NEC 2025, E-Cell MERI participated in over 40 competitions and successfully completed 18 NEC tasks, including flagship events like Illuminate, Eureka Pitching, and Founders’ Expo. The college also became the only North Indian institution to organize the Eureka North Zonals in collaboration with E-Cell, IIT Bombay.

At the Mumbai NEC Finals, the team showcased its skills across five demanding rounds, including presentations, group discussions, case studies, and an IPL-style auction challenge. Both on-site and remote team members contributed to this collective success, demonstrating the power of collaboration and mentorship.

From 57th place to a Top 5 finish, E-Cell MERI’s performance is a shining example of persistence, strategic planning, and teamwork. Riding on this momentum, the team has already begun preparations for NEC 2026, setting its sights on claiming the top position.
