Strengthening Ties: BMU Tashkent Delegation Visits MERI, New Delhi

India–Uzbekistan educational linkages gain momentum with new academic collaborations

The British Management University (BMU), Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan, sent a high-level delegation to the Management Education & Research Institute (MERI), New Delhi, on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

The delegation was warmly received by Prof. Lalit Aggarwal, Vice-President, MERI Group of Institutions; Prof. (Dr.) Ramakant Dwivedi, Head, MERI Centre for International Studies; and Mr. Luv Aggarwal.

Welcoming the guests, Prof. Dwivedi introduced Prof. Yuri Loktionov, Rector, BMU, and Prof. Siddhartha Saxena, Vice-Rector, BMU. Prof. Lalit Aggarwal, in his opening remarks, reflected on MERI’s four-decade-long journey, highlighting its impactful contributions to higher education, particularly in the field of management.

Prof. (Dr.) Deepshikha Kalra, Dean, MERI, presented an overview of the institution’s evolution, achievements, and global collaborations. She emphasized MERI’s sustained excellence in academics, research, and innovation.

This was followed by an address by Prof. Yuri Loktionov, Rector, BMU, who outlined BMU’s growth, mission, and collaborative initiatives with both national and international institutions. He stressed BMU’s vision of becoming a hub for global academic partnerships.

Prof. Lalit Aggarwal noted the striking parallels between MERI and BMU in terms of institutional values, focus on student-centric learning, and international collaboration. Prof. Siddhartha Saxena, Vice-Rector, BMU, further underlined the importance of enhancing joint research, especially in the context of private research universities, and encouraged knowledge-sharing initiatives in management and allied disciplines.

The meeting concluded with a shared understanding to deepen academic cooperation. Both delegations expressed commitment to fostering India–Uzbekistan educational ties, marking the visit as a significant step toward long-term institutional partnerships.
