At the BRICS CCI Healthcare Summit 2025 in New Delhi, the Union Ayush Minister highlighted India’s leadership in traditional medicine and called for deeper BRICS collaboration to blend tradition with innovation in global healthcare
New Delhi, August 29, 2025
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, underscored the transformative role of Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy in building an inclusive, modern, and patient-centric healthcare system. He was addressing the BRICS CCI Healthcare Summit 2025 in New Delhi, held under the theme “Bridging Tradition and Innovation.”
In his remarks, Shri Jadhav extended greetings on Ganesh Utsav and stressed the pivotal influence of BRICS nations—representing nearly half the world’s population, one-third of global GDP, and one-fifth of global trade—in shaping sustainable growth through healthcare innovation. He credited Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership for strengthening India’s Ayush ecosystem, which now includes over 1,000 Ayush colleges, with 500+ Ayurveda institutions, supported by extensive research and regulatory frameworks.
The Minister highlighted the rising global recognition of Ayush practices, citing the growing Ayurvedic practitioner community in Brazil and Ayurveda’s integration into Russia’s healthcare system. He also pointed to China’s parallel progress in traditional medicine, reflecting a worldwide shift toward holistic care.
“Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy are foundations for building a modern, inclusive, and patient-centric healthcare system,” Shri Jadhav stated.
He further emphasized the need for ethical and sustainable growth in the global market for Ayurveda and Yoga, advocating for public-private partnerships, digital health innovations, nutraceutical research, and support for entrepreneurs, innovators, and farmers.
Calling for stronger intra-BRICS collaboration, Shri Jadhav urged member nations to harmonize frameworks for Ayush products. Such measures, he said, would expand global markets, reduce economic vulnerabilities, and position India as a leader in health and wellness.
He also noted that the Ministry of Ayush has signed MoUs with 25 countries, laying the groundwork for international collaboration in traditional medicine. The summit, he said, should be used as an opportunity to forge new alliances that seamlessly blend tradition with modern innovation.
The BRICS CCI Healthcare Summit 2025 marks a significant step in strengthening global cooperation in healthcare—with India’s Ayush systems at the forefront of this evolving, inclusive, and sustainable model of wellness.
