Rajasthan Govt. pushes for affordable housing, sustainable cities, and faster urban development

New Delhi: Rajasthan Chief Secretary Shri Sudhansh Pant said the state government is fully committed to providing affordable housing and building sustainable, livable cities. Addressing the 17th National Conference of the National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) in New Delhi, he highlighted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma, Rajasthan has launched several reforms and projects, while effectively implementing central government schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Jal Jeevan Mission.

Mr. Pant noted that in recent years, Rajasthan has made significant progress in urban infrastructure, affordable housing, and clean water supply, in line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision. The state introduced a new township policy, model building bylaws, Transit Oriented Development, and Transferable Development Rights (TDR) to speed up projects and simplify processes. He also pointed out that Rajasthan’s first Green Budget focuses on circular economy, sustainable use of resources, and effective land use planning to make cities environment-friendly.

Highlighting investment opportunities, Mr. Pant said that during the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, MoUs worth nearly ₹1.25 lakh crore were signed in the urban sector, with projects worth ₹25,000 crore already launched. In the last year, the state has also implemented 15 new policies in sectors such as industry, tourism, mining, civil aviation, and energy, with more in the pipeline to enhance livability and attract investors.

He further announced nine greenfield expressways to strengthen connectivity across Rajasthan and informed that work on Jaipur Metro Rail Phase-2 will begin soon in collaboration with the central government. Stressing Rajasthan’s strategic geographical advantage, he said these projects will accelerate development and improve quality of life for citizens.

Concluding his address, Mr. Pant reiterated that the government’s mantra is to make the lives of citizens “simple and easy.” At the conference, other Rajasthan officials also participated: Principal Secretary Mr. Debashish Prusty spoke on “Affordable Housing for All,” RERA Chairperson Ms. Veenu Gupta on “RERA’s Next Chapter,” and Local Self Government Secretary Mr. Ravi Jain on “Urban Mobility and Quality of Life.”
