Delhi Divyang Para Sports Association President Meets CM to Highlight Para Athletes’ Needs

Invites Chief Minister to Grace the Delhi State Para Athletics Championship as Chief Guest

New Delhi: Parul Singh, leading the Delhi Divyang Para Sports Association, paid a courtesy visit to Delhi CM Rekha Gupta on Monday, extending an invitation for her to attend the Delhi State Para Athletics Championship as the Chief Guest.

During the meeting, Parul Singh apprised the Chief Minister of various challenges faced by para-athletes in Delhi. She also submitted a detailed memorandum highlighting the long-pending issue related to the recognition of the Delhi Divyang Para Sports Association, which has been adversely affecting athletes at multiple levels.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta assured that the Delhi Government is fully committed to addressing the concerns of para-athletes and emphasized that their welfare remains a priority. She appreciated the sustained efforts of Parul Singh and her team in promoting para sports in Delhi and described their work as a commendable initiative toward inclusive sports development.

On the occasion, Parul Singh also extended her warm greetings to the Chief Minister on the auspicious festivals of Lohri and Makar Sankranti. She noted that these festivals symbolize new beginnings, positivity, and prosperity, while fostering unity, harmony, and social cohesion. She further wished the Chief Minister good health and expressed optimism for Delhi’s continued growth and development.

Reiterating the government’s commitment, the Chief Minister stated that providing better opportunities, infrastructure, and platforms for para-athletes is among the key priorities of the Delhi Government, and assured full support for initiatives aimed at strengthening para sports in the city.

Speaking after the meeting, Parul Singh said,
“The meeting with the Hon’ble Chief Minister was highly encouraging for para-athletes in Delhi. We extended an invitation to her to attend the Delhi State Para Athletics Championship as the Chief Guest and also had a constructive discussion on several important issues related to para sports. We are confident that the government will continue to support efforts to further strengthen the para sports ecosystem.”

The meeting was attended by Rahul Kasana, General Secretary of the Delhi Divyang Para Sports Association, Devendra Kumar, Secretary of Saksham Association, along with other office bearers.
