Tatanagar Civil Defence Inspector Santosh Kumar Honours with Prestigious National Award

Recognised for exemplary service in disaster management, civil defence training, and community safety

New Delhi: At a prestigious ceremony held at the Railway Board, Rail Bhawan, New Delhi, Santosh Kumar, Civil Defence Inspector of South Eastern Railway, Tatanagar, was honoured with the National Medal and Certificate of Appreciation awarded by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. He received this recognition for his remarkable contributions in the field of Civil Defence, promoting team spirit, and conducting regular mock drills and training programs.

The award was presented by Ajit Kumar Jha, Executive Director, Railway Board, in the presence of other senior officials. Santosh Kumar is the only officer from South Eastern Railway to be selected for this national honour.

He has significantly strengthened the department’s emergency preparedness by training railway staff particularly loco pilots in disaster management, first aid, and fire safety. Under Operation Sindoor, he also trained approximately 18,000 civilians in disaster rescue techniques across various public places.

In addition to this national honour, he has previously received several accolades including the Distinguished Railway Service Award (69th Railway Week 2024), PCSO Award–2022, Senior SDGM Award–2018, and three DRM Awards.

His achievement is a matter of pride not only for South Eastern Railway but for the entire Indian Railways, serving as an inspiration for all fellow employees and civil defence personnel.
