Delhi Paralympic Committee welcomes key dignitaries at Grand Launch of 2025 World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi

New Delhi: With exactly 100 days to go for the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships, the Delhi Para Olympic Committee marked the occasion with a grand launch ceremony and official mascot unveiling in the national capital. The event signaled the beginning of the final countdown to the 12th edition of the global championships, scheduled to take place from September 27 to October 5, 2025, in New Delhi.

Mrs. Parul Singh, President of the Delhi Para Olympic, welcomed senior dignitaries and stakeholders who attended the high-profile event, aimed at showcasing India’s readiness to host what is being called the largest para sport event ever held in the country.

Among those present were Delhi Chief Minister Ms. Rekha Gupta; Delhi Education and Sports Minister Mr. Ashish Sood; Member of Parliament and Brand Ambassador for the Championships Ms. Kangana Ranaut; BJP Mahila Morcha National President Smt. Vanathi Srinivasan; Ms. Rashmi Govind, Director, Indian Oil Corporation; and several MLAs, including patrons of the National Para Olympic Committee. The event also saw the participation of senior government officials, para-athletes, and representatives from the sports and disability inclusion sector.

The unveiling of the championship’s official mascot was the highlight of the event.

Addressing the media, Mrs. Parul Singh, President of the Delhi Para Olympic, said: “This championship is a proud moment for Delhi and for the nation. It is a celebration of the strength and achievements of para-athletes, and we are committed to making it an inclusive and unforgettable experience.”

Delhi’s Education and Sports Minister Mr. Ashish Sood said, “It is a proud moment for Delhi to host the Para Athletics Launch Ceremony, celebrating the strength, talent, and spirit of our para-athletes.”

Kangana Ranaut, who was announced as the Brand Ambassador for the New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Championships, shared her appreciation for the event and the athletes. She said it was an honour to be associated with the para sports movement and highlighted the importance of visibility and recognition for athletes with disabilities.

With 100 days to go, the focus now shifts to final preparations for what promises to be a landmark moment for Indian sport and for the global para-athletics community.
