Democracy Under Threat in Darbhanga Shehri: Jan Suraaj Party Accuses Administration of Electoral Misconduct

Former DGP-Rank Officer R.K. Mishra Leads Peaceful Protest; Demands Action Against Misuse of Power and Electoral Irregularities

November 6, 2025 , Darbhanga

The Jan Suraaj Party has alleged large-scale electoral irregularities in the 83-Darbhanga Shehri Assembly Constituency, accusing the local administration and police of collusion that compromised the fairness of the election.

Party leader and former DGP-rank officer Shri R.K. Mishra staged a peaceful protest at the Darbhanga Police Station, condemning what he described as the erosion of administrative impartiality and misuse of authority during the polling process.

In a strong statement, Shri Mishra said, “If the police can mislead and mistreat someone like me — a retired officer of DGP rank — then the plight of common citizens can only be imagined. This is a direct threat to democracy.”

He urged the Director General of Police, Bihar, to take immediate disciplinary action against officers who, according to him, displayed insensitivity and abused their administrative powers.

Mishra further alleged that despite repeated complaints, the Election Observer failed to act, allowing continued violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

Calling the situation a “dark chapter in democracy,” the Jan Suraaj Party put forward several demands:

  • Immediate intervention by the Election Commission of India;
  • Suspension and inquiry against the complicit officers;
  • Re-polling in affected booths; and
  • Public release of CCTV footage from all polling stations.

Concluding his remarks, Shri Mishra emphasized, “This issue goes beyond one constituency — it concerns the very essence and soul of Indian democracy.”
